2014 Men's Member Guest

Open Division Champions!

Kyle Parker and Shad Harrell are your 2014 Men's Member-Guest Winners.

Former college players Kyle and Shad, Division 1 and Division 3 respectively, were victorious in three matches on consecutive nights. Their tournament started off with a barn burner of a match. With a first round bye, their second round opponents were Rob Johnston and Matt Foote, the match score was 6-7, 7-6, 10-6. Next they played Ralph Agpaoa and John Snead. The first set was tight with Kyle and Shad winning in a tie-breaker and then they took off on the second set winning 7-6, 6-2. They were set to play Shyam Venkat, currently a top #5 Boys 18s junior, and Jeremy New, former Division 1 player, very formidable opponents. Kyle and Shad hit their stride and won 6-3, 6-4. We had a great turnout for the Open Division with 18 very good teams!

Eric Cofer and his partner Steven Wright reached the semi-finals where they were knocked out by the young duo of Shyam and Jeremy. They went on to play Ralph and John to determine 3rd and 4th place for the Open division. Eric and Steven went on to win in an extremely tight match 7-6, 6-4.
The 8.0 draw had a deep field as well with 12 teams. Chris Stone and Cory Evans had a tough road; beating Guru Venkat and Al Bristow in a tie-breaker then besting Nick Hardesty and Scott Alabaster 6-3, 7-6. Chris and Cory took home the championship, winning a gripping final against Stu Dowdy and Dave Scammel 7-6, 7-6.
George Campbell and Craig Matthews took home the crown in the 7.0. They started off well, dispatching Steven Ramos and Joey Ungerleider 6-1, 6-2. They kept up the good play, winning against Mason Harper and Sanford Viat 6-2, 6-2. They faced off against Jason Eakes and Pat Jernigan in the final. Jason and Pat had been playing extremely well themselves, but George and Craig stayed strong winning 6-3, 1-6, 10-4.
